Teen fights off attacker by kicking him in the groin

SE — A 14-year-old girl fought off an attacker after he grabbed and pulled her to the ground Tuesday evening, police said.

Before 9 p.m., the teen girl was walking home after she got off the route 7 bus at Rainier Avenue South and South Andover Street.

According to police, when the teen reached 34th Avenue South and South Oregon Street, an unknown man approached her from behind and grabbed her around the neck and both arms.

The teen kicked the man in the groin, and she escaped and ran home.

Police said the teen told police, the man didn’t speak during the attack.

When officers and a K9 unit arrived in the area, they did a search for the attacker but could not find him.

Crews responded to the scene to treat the teen for minor injuries to her throat, which was from the man grabbing her.

Police described the man as black, in his mid 20s, 170 pounds, 5 feet 8 inches tall, short hair cut in a fade, hair on his chin, wearing a gray sweat jacket with the Nike emblem and gray sweat pants.

Anyone with information about the incident or the described attacker is urged to call 911.
