Tacoma police could get body cameras

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police could get body cameras within the next two or three years.

The News Tribune reports that body cameras are one of more than 30 proposed changes released by the city this week as part of a community outreach project.

The body cams would be a big step for the department, which does not have dash cameras for its patrol cars, either.

The community outreach project also recommended building a more diverse police force, posting more detailed crime reports online and more crisis intervention training for officers.
