• SWAT team surrounds Lakewood home

LAKEWOOD, Wash. - For five hours, police pleaded with a guy named Robert to come out of his Lakewood home with his hands up.

When he didn't answer them, a SWAT team broke down doors and entered the house on Custer Road Southwest.

They didn't find the 50 year old man they were looking for, who was a suspect in an assault.

The drama started around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. A stranger walked up to Terry Haverland's door just a half block away.

He said he'd been stabbed in the neck and needed someone to dial 9-1-1. Haverland did that, and police quickly surrounded the house on Custer Road where the victim was attacked.

The victim said he was interested in buying a car from the guy who lived there, but there was some kind of disagreement and he was stabbed.

The injury was described as "superficial" and not life threatening. Police said they'll continue to look for their stabbing suspect. He's got a criminal history that includes violent offenses.
