KENT, Wash. - A 2-year-old boy who was run over by an SUV in the parking lot of a Kent apartment complex Friday night died from his injuries Saturday, said officials with Harborview Medical Center.
The boy was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition after the incident.
Kent police said the boy dashed away from his father, and ran directly in front of a moving SUV. The driver rolled over the boy with his front and back wheels.
Eyewitnesses say the boy was unconscious when paramedics arrived.
Kent police say the driver voluntarily submitted to a blood test and he showed no signs of intoxication.
The tragic accident was seen by dozens of children playing nearby.
“He started to speed up and then he hit the kid, he hit the toddler, and it just got ugly then,” said Abdul Ibraham.
Cameron Stewart, who was also playing nearby, added: “I’m going to remember this day forever and it's just sad.
