Suspected drunken driver plows into man pumping gas

SEATTLE — A man pumping gas was critically injured when a suspected drunken driver slammed into a gas station in South Seattle Monday afternoon.

Seattle police said the victim pumping gas at a Safeway gas station at 9262 Rainier Ave. South was pinned between an SUV and a gas pump after a man driving a Chevrolet Tahoe slammed into the gas station. Firefighters said the victim’s arm was badly injured.

The driver of the Tahoe was also hurt and was taken to Harborview.

Police said the driver of the Tahoe appeared to be under the influence.

Though gas was sprayed on the gas station’s lot after the crash, none of the pumps were broken by the impact.
