CENTRALIA, Wash. - A police officer shot and killed a suspect just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning in the 1200 block of Elm Street in Centralia.
A Centralia officer saw the suspect behind a closed business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street.
When the officer approached him, the man ignored the officer and began moving away. The officer again moved closer to the suspect and the man pulled out a knife. When told to drop the weapon the man did not comply. He told the officer he also had a gun.
The suspect then fled the scene. A second officer pursued the man to Elm Street. on foot. The suspect confronted that officer with the knife and during that confrontation was shot by the officer.
The suspect is a 48-year-old man with an out-of-state ID card.
