SEATTLE - Seattle police have arrested a suspected burglar after a burglary and foot chase early Sunday morning.

According to police, just before 5:00 a.m., an apartment complex resident called 911 to report seeing a man climb up her  balcony to the unit above her in the 1900 block of NE 85th Street.

When officers arrived, they saw the man climbing down from the third story wearing a backpack. The suspect jumped to the ground from the second story of the building and began running.

According to police, the suspect refused the officers' orders to stop.

More officers arrived to help and the 55-year-old suspect was spotted and taken into custody.

After investigating further, police say they determined that the suspect had entered the occupied apartment on the third floor through an unlocked sliding glass door.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect's backpack.

Police processed the apartment and collected several fingerprints.

The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary.

Officers say that it is unclear whether any items were stolen from the apartment and are continuing their investigation.
