BREMERTON, Wash. — A 17-year-old girl was severely injured when a vehicle struck her while she was crossing the street in Bremerton Wednesday morning.
The victim was in a crosswalk at Central Valley Road and Conifer Drive when she was hit by a Toyota Tacoma pickup, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said.
The driver whose vehicle struck her is at the scene, being questioned by Kitsap County sheriff's deputies.
The girl was rushed to Harrison Silverdale for airlift to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue said.
She was listed in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Harborview.
The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident.
Central Valley Road is closed in front of Fairview Junior High.
