Student with severe head injuries making miraculous recovery

VANCOUVER, Wash. — A college student from Western Washington is home after making a recovery that not even doctors expected.

Tyler Burton from Vancouver suffered severe head injuries in October after he got punched by a stranger in California, where Burton was attending college.

He was knocked to the pavement and wasn't expected to survive.

“We were told, all of us in the meeting, that he will just stare at a wall the rest of his life,” said Burton’s stepfather, Roddy Hash.

His parents had even made the painful decision to take their son off life support, but now the 21-year-old is able to speak in sentences.

With 6 hours of rehabilitation work each day, his condition continues to improve.
