Stolen car pursuit ends in crash in Kitsap County

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — A police pursuit of a stolen car ended in a collision that left one vehicle overturned and another smashed on a road in Kitsap County Friday.

The driver of the fleeing car was arrested.  A woman passenger and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to a hospital.

Deputy Scott Wilson said the pursuit started in Port Orchard when police there tried to pull over a Honda CRV after a routine check determined the car was stolen.

The Honda's driver tried to pass a pickup truck by swerving into oncoming traffic but struck the pickup, flipping it over at Sidney Road Southwest and Southwest Lider Road.

The pickup driver was trapped briefly in the pickup's cab. Firefighters pulled him free, and his injuries were minor, officials said.
