State Patrol: 4-year-old girl pulls younger sister from wreckage

NASELLE, Wash. -- — Two girls were severely injured in a fatal crash near Naselle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old girl were stranded in a wooded area after a car collision around midnight, which killed their 26-year-old mother.

A person driving by spotted a scar on a tree and stopped to investigate. The driver then found the vehicle and girls.

State Patrol said the 4-year-old girl freed her sister and kept her warm in the woods nearby.

The girls were taken to a hospital in Astoria, Ore., with severe injuries.

According to State Patrol, the mother was on her way to pick up her husband in Grays Harbor.  The father is with his children at the hospital.
