Stanwood teacher arrested in slaying of wife

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Mount Vernon police arrested Stanwood teacher Wednesday night in the slaying of his wife, who died Monday.

Police say the 48-year old woman's husband told them he found her unresponsive at the bottom of the stairs at their home in the 3600 block of North Woodland Place, but the fall and her injuries don’t appear to be accidental.

The 49-year-old man was arrested for investigation of second-degree murder.

Police said there was no history of domestic violence between the couple.

His  bail was set at $1 million.
