A Seattle Police South Precinct officer was seriously injured after his marked patrol car collided with a power pole and several parked cars early Saturday morning.
The crash happened at about 1:20 a.m. on Rainier Avenue South near South Garden Street.
Police said an officer hit a pole and the impact of the crash sheared the pole off at the base. The officer's patrol car then struck three parked, unoccupied cars before coming to a rest against a tree.
Seattle Fire Rescue responded and took the officer to Harborview Medical Center where he remains with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are investigating what caused the officer to lose control of his vehicle and crash.
This remains as an active and on-going collision investigation.
