Spanaway neighborhood deals with brown water again

SPANAWAY, Wash. — The brown water is back.

The brown water has returned to their toilets, taps and tubs in a Spanaway neighborhood that has been fighting with its water company for months.

Four months ago, the Rainier View Water Company did a full flush of all the pipes in the subdivision following a KIRO 7 about brown water flowing into homes.

Here's KIRO 7's previous report.

A Rainier View spokesman said the water they pump into homes is from wells and has safe levels of minerals in it. He said because of new concerns about brown water another full flush will happen soon.

However, the spokesman said the water woes may continue until the end of the year when a new filtration system has finished clearing out all the sediment.

“I do not buy it at all,” said one neighbor. “I think they’re covering up, and there are a lot of issues with the way the water system was put in.”

Because of the high level of frustration, several neighbors said they are flatly refusing to pay their bills until the water company fixes this problem.

KIRO 7 will continue to track this story.
