Motorcyclist killed in Tacoma hit-and-run; police look for man who fled scene

TACOMA, Wash. — Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run Wednesday night in Tacoma.

Police said an SUV hit a motorcyclist on South 38th and M. Street after 8 p.m.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner told KIRO 7 the victim is 52-year-old Vincent Dombrosky. Dombrosky’s mother-in-law said he leaves behind three children and two grandchildren. His sister created a Facebook page Thursday morning, asking for positive messages to support the family.

A woman who did not want to be identified said, “When I found out who it was, my heart goes out to the family. Vincent was a good man.”

According to police, a man fled the scene on foot northbound. He is described as Hispanic, in his 20 to 30s, 5 feet 6 inches tall to 5 feet 8 inches tall, unknown build, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

Neighbor Jim Vincent said he was also hit in a previous accident at the same intersection, by a driver who also left the scene.

“Brings back the memory of looking that guy right in the eye, holding my hands up and saying,  ‘Stop,’ and have him come right at me,” Vincent said.

For the driver in this case, he had this message: “That guy’s family is going to want to know what happened. Come back and turn yourself in.”
