Fireball erupts at Chehalis gas station

Cellphone video shows a fireball erupting from a gas station in Chehalis.

The fire on Northwest State Avenue happened near the station where propane is kept at about 11 p.m. Sunday.

Chehalis police said the underground gas tanks did not catch fire.

Explosions heard by neighbors are believed to have been from propane tanks.

The KIRO 7 newsroom has calls into the fire department to see what sparked the fire.

Several road closures will continue into the Monday morning commute.

West Main Street will remain closed from the I-5 on/off ramps east to Northwest Chehalis Avenue.

Northwest State Avenue will remain closed from Northwest Prindle Street to West Main Street.

Drivers are asked to use exit 79 (Chamber of Commerce Way) or exit 76, (13th Street) to access Chehalis Monday morning.
