PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Two people were injured and 10 pets were unaccounted for after a fire destroyed a home Saturday night near Wilkeson, said East Pierce County Fire & Rescue Chief Bud Backer.
The fire took place on the 15000 block of 274th Ave. E. and Backer said the house is likely a total loss. Two home owners suffered minor injuries and one was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

Six dogs and four cats were unaccounted for on Saturday night. Backer did not yet have an update on the status of the pets on Sunday morning.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The call was part of busy night for the department, which also responded to a medical emergency in Milton. Off-duty firefighters were called in to handle additional calls, according to a tweet by the East Pierce Firefighters union.
