A Seattle police sergeant on his way home from work Tuesday morning fell asleep behind the wheel and caused a chain-reaction crash.
The crash happened on State Route 522 at the Snohomish River Bridge just after 1 a.m.
The Washington State Patrol said the sergeant hit a truck, which then slammed into another car.
The sergeant had to be cut out of his truck after it ended up in a ditch.
He was taken to Harborview Medical Center.
The other drivers were not seriously hurt.
