SKYWAY, Wash. - A Skyway man mumbled about God as he answered to charges of offering candy and cigarettes to a child for sex. Danny Park seemed in disbelief in a King County courtroom Monday. Police said he propositioned a 9-year-old girl on the sidewalk at the Creston Point Apartments.

Park's neighbor, Kelli Thompson, said she was in disbelief when she walked up on Park as he was trying to get the girl to follow him.

"I saw her start shaking her head," Thompson said. "And he said, 'Why don't you come back to my apartment with me?'"

Thompson intervened and called police. They arrested Park, saying he offered the girl candy and cigarettes for sex. Park told them he was trying to say hello to someone and didn't speak to any children.

Most people charged with crimes sit quietly next to their attorneys in court, but Monday as Park read the charging documents to sign, he mumbled, "Oh my God."

He then mumbled more about God, adding, "It's the Lord's work."

Thompson has a history of alcohol-related charges including public intoxication and DUI. Neighbors say they've seen him stumbling drunk around the apartment complex. One neighbor told KIRO 7 he thinks Park is a harmless drunk. Another neighbor was in the courtroom Monday. He called the situation outrageous and said "you never know."

Park covered his face as he headed back to jail on $30,000 bond. He could face up to a year in jail if convicted.
