1 killed, several hurt in Arlington head-on crash

ARLINGTON, Wash. — A person died and several people were injured in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon on Highway 9 in Arlington. The crash happened near the Crown Ridge Boulevard intersection at 3:09 p.m., a city representative says. Both lanes are blocked.

A vehicle was traveling northbound on the highway when it crossed over the center line and struck a southbound vehicle.

There was one occupant in the northbound vehicle, and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the City of Arlington Public Information Officer, Kristin Banfield.

The identity of the driver is unknown at this time.

The vehicle traveling southbound had two women and two children. The women were extricated from the vehicle and taken to Providence Hospital in Everett with possible serious injuries, and the children were taken to Providence Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Chopper 7 video of the scene shows the wreckage of two heavily damaged cars.

The Arlington Police Department is currently investigating the incident.

The city is asking drivers to avoid the area.
