Semi hauling 40,000 pounds of seafood crashes into tree

A semi-truck hauling 40,000 pounds of frozen seafood crashed into a tree after blowing out a tire on Interstate 5 Wednesday afternoon, troopers said.

MARYSVILLE, Wash. — The incident happened around 4 p.m. on the southbound lanes of I-5 north of Exit 202.

Troopers said a semi-truck blew out a tire, left the roadway and struck a tree, knocking it over.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the semi was carrying the seafood from a cold storage unit in Bellingham to the Port of Seattle.

Another truck was called in to transport the trailer, which was not damaged.

The driver was not injured or cited, troopers said.

There were no injuries or other cars involved.
