• Rafter rescued off Stillaguamish River

ARLINGTON, Wash. - The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and a dive team rescued a rafter from the waters of the Stillaguamish River in Arlington Thursday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred at River Meadows Park in the 20400 block of Jordan Road.

One rafter with a flotation device fell out of the raft into the river.  A second person also fell out but was able to get out of the water on their own.

When Chopper 7 arrived, the victims’ raft was caught in some downed trees extending from the riverside.  The remaining rafter had made it onto a tree that was partially underwater.

Chopper video showed rescuers arrive in a hovercraft and bring the rafter to safety.
