Police: Speeding, reckless driver caused crash that killed child

EVERETT, Wash. — The driver who caused a crash that killed a child was speeding and reckless, police said.

The child was in the car that was speeding erratically when it collided with two other vehicles in the 7800 block of Evergreen Way Tuesday evening, police said.

The grandparents and other grief-stricken relatives of the child who was killed showed up at the scene, where a BMW's passenger side was crushed by the impact of the crash, said KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Gary Horcher.  A child's car seat was visible in the wrecked car.

Police presumed the driver of the BMW was the child's parent.  They said they are looking at alcohol, speed, recklessness and weather as factors.
