Police serve search warrant in connection to Greenwood homicide

SEATTLE — Police served a search warrant Friday afternoon in connection to the fatal shooting of a man in Greenwood Sunday evening.

Seattle police told KIRO 7 detectives were in the 9000 block of Fourth Avenue Northwest serving a search warrant with a SWAT team.

According to authorities, there are no suspects in custody.

On Sunday night, police responded to the area of North 85th Street and First Avenue Northwest after reports of shots fired.

When authorities arrived, they found 54-year-old David L. Peterson fatally shot in his vehicle in the parking lot.  Police said Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, three people were seen running away from the scene. One suspect was described as a black man, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, thin build and wearing a North Face jacket. Another suspect was described as a short black man and the third person was a white woman.

Investigators believe there may have been a robbery in the area prior to the shooting.
