Man shot in Rainier Valley

SEATTLE — A 40-year-old man was shot several times Sunday evening in the Rainier Valley as he sat in his car, police said.

The shooting happened before 6 p.m. on Rainier Avenue South and South Othello Street.

According to police, the man was sitting in his car when he was shot.

The victim drove away from the scene and flagged down an officer, who called medics to the location.

Other officers responded and medics took the man to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

During an inspection of the victim’s car, officers saw a gun lying on the front floor of the man’s vehicle.

Police will continue to investigate the shooting.

According to police, the shooter remains at large and a description was not provided.
