Police: Man arrested in West Seattle homicide

Dec. 14, 2013: Seattle police investigate the death of a 46-year-old woman at a West Seattle home.

SEATTLE - Seattle police arrested a 20-year-old man Saturday who is suspected in the death of a 46-year-old woman in West Seattle in December.

According to police, on Dec. 14 a woman returned to her home off Highpoint Drive Southwest near 30th Avenue Southwest and found the front door of the home unlocked. She was unable to find her 46-year-old mother and called 911.

 When police arrived, they found the woman’s mother stabbed to death and hidden in a closet.

No suspects were identified at the time.

On Saturday at about 11 a.m. police said detectives were following up on information that developed during the investigation and arrested a 20-year-old man at his home in the 10700 block of 18th Avenue Southwest in White Center. 

Detectives interviewed the man and booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of murder.

Police said there are no additional suspects being sought in the case.

Authorities will continue to investigate the incident.
