Police: Man arrested in kidnapping, attempted rape of 10-year-old girl

SEATTLE — Seattle police arrested a 26-year-old man Monday night after a kidnapping and attempted rape of a 10-year-old girl in West Seattle.

According to police, before 7 p.m. the man asked the girl for directions to a nearby library. After the girl gave directions, the man told her he knew a quicker path to the library into a wooded area.

Police said the man grabbed the girl and pulled her into a wooded area.

According to police the man reportedly ordered the girl to have sex with him or he would rape her.

A witness told police he saw the girl running from the woods and screamed for help. The witness pulled over and saw the man running away and called 911.

When police arrived they found the man near the scene and arrested him.

The man was then booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping and rape.
