Police: Man in standoff attacked sister with oar

Police said a man who allegedly attacked his sister with a boat paddle was arrested after a six-hour standoff in Beacon Hill.

SEATTLE — Police went to a home near 20th Avenue South and South Lucile Street at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a man that attacked his sister with an oar.

When officers arrived they tried to get in contact with the man but he barricaded himself insider and refused police.

After about six hours, SWAT officers served a warrant and took the man into custody at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

The man was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of domestic violence assault.
