Man in Everett throat-slashing attack turns himself in

EVERETT, Wash. — A man suspected of slashing his ex-girlfriend’s throat at an Everett Safeway store Wednesday night has turned himself in.

Everett Police officer Aaron Snell tells KIRO 7  Yonathan A. Carreno Duarte turned himself into the police around 8.30pm Thursday.

Duarte  was booked into the Snohomish County Jail after detectives questioned him about the attack.

Police were called to the Safeway at 7600 Evergreen Way at 9:15 p.m. for a report that a woman was screaming that her throat had been cut.

Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old Everett woman with multiple cuts on her neck who said her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Yonathan A. Carreno Duarte, had pulled out a knife and attacked her when they met at the store to talk about domestic issues.

He was believed to have a cut on his hand when he ran from the store.

Police said a knife was recovered at the scene.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
