• Police arrest Mount Vernon bank robber

    MOUNT VERNON - A man was arrested Saturday after he robbed a Mount Vernon bank, police said.

     

    Around 11:20 a.m., a man entered a bank in the 300 block of West Kincaid and presented a note demanding money.

     

    The man left the bank with an unknown amount of money.

     

    No one was injured during the robbery.

     

    When officers responded to the area, they spotted a man walking about two blocks south of the bank matching the description of the robber.

     

    Police said the 64-year-old man was taken into custody for investigation of first-degree robber and booked into the Skagit County Jail.

     

    Police said the man is known to be a transient and has previous criminal history, which includes eluding police, assault, arson and burglary.
