• 4-year-old boy found in Lacey swimming pool dies


    LACEY, Wash. - A 4-year-old boy who nearly drowned Saturday afternoon in a pool at a Lacey apartment complex has died.

    The incident happened at the Diamond Head Apartments at 1510 College Street Southeast at about 3:55 p.m. 

    According to police, crews responded to the location after a report of a child drowning.

    When police arrived, a man was performing CPR on his son.

    A Lacey officer took over the CPR until medics arrived.

    Medics took the boy to St. Peter Hospital and he was then airlifted to Mary Bridge Hospital in Tacoma.   The boy later died.

    Police said an investigation indicated that the father fell asleep and when he woke up, he noticed his son had left the apartment. The man searched for his son and found him unresponsive in the pool.

    The man went into the pool, got the boy out, carried him to his apartment, notified neighbors and began CPR.
