Police: 1 dead, 1 injured in South Seattle shooting

One man died and another was injured in a shooting in South Seattle, police said.

SEATTLE – — The shooting happened in the 4800 block of South Austin Street around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, officers responded to the location after a report of a shooting.

Police found a 37-year-old man shot near the intersection of South Austin and Rainier Avenue South.

A 25-year-old man who was shot ran to Rainier Avenue south and South Fontanelle, where he was able to flag down a passing Seattle police officer. He had gunshot wounds to the stomach and leg.

The two men were taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the 37-year-old died from his injuries Thursday and the 25-year-old man is expected to survive his injuries.

Police said detectives from the homicide and assault unit are actively investigating the shooting. It is unknown at this time why the two men were shot.
