TACOMA, Wash. - Big changes are coming for bus riders in Pierce County.
Pierce Transit is making some of the biggest service cuts ever after the defeat of a sales tax increase by 704 votes in November's election.
The Pierce Transit Board of Commissioners passed the plan at its meeting Monday night.
It's bigger than two earlier service cuts, in June and October of 2011.
Cuts include the elimination of service on weekends and holidays and reduced weekday trips and hours.
Northeast Tacoma Route 62 will be eliminated altogether.
The cuts start in September.
