The accident happened just before noon right in front of Salon Nouveau -- where Chelsea Beers was working at the front desk.

Beers had a clear view out the window.

"I heard the sound of him hitting her and looked out the window, and he was rolling over the top of her," said Beers. "He stopped and jumped out and pulled her out, and she was on the ground and (a) bunch of people ran up there. That's when I called 911."

Beers said a passerby appeared to be a nurse and stayed with the victim until paramedics arrived.

The woman died at Harborview.

All lanes of Beacon Avenue South were blocked shortly after the collision.

The blockage was between South McClellan Street and 17th Avenue South.

The driver of the van was not arrested.

It will be up to the medical examiner to release the victim's identity.
