Parka-clad burglar caught on camera

SEATTLE, Wash. — A security guard identified a parka-clad thief to Seattle Police after spotting him poking around a South Park drywall company's property.

The guard contacted SPD at around 5:30 Friday morning after watching the suspect on security camera knock over motion lights and prod a security camera with a stick.

The 44-year-old man did not appear to steal anything during the break-in, but was walking around in a restricted area.

Though he was gone when officers arrived, security footage helped police identify him by his distinctive plaid parka.

Police spotted the thief a few blocks away, still wearing his now mud-splattered parka.

The suspect told police that he lived in a nearby RV and had been out walking when he saw a suspicious person on the street.

He told officers that this had prompted him to return to his RV to ensure that it hadn’t been burglarized.

He did not explain why his parka was mud-stained.

Officers arrested the man and booked him into King County Jail for investigation of burglary.
