One hurt, 1 possibly missing after Point Defiance crash

TACOMA, Wash. — One person was seriously hurt and another may be missing after a high-speed crash at a Tacoma park.

The crash at Point Defiance Park was discovered by someone passing by at 7 a.m. Monday who called 911 to report an injured man outside a crashed car on the Five Mile Drive.

Police said the injured man did not cooperate with police as to what happened.

The News Tribune said witnesses reported seeing a passenger hanging out the window before the crash, but police have been unable to find anyone in the area.

Area hospitals are being checked and an airplane is being used to search for someone who could have been thrown from the car.  Police are also using a search and rescue dog to comb the heavily wooded area.

The crash appears to only have involved one car.
