A King County detention officer had his gun, duty uniform and duty belt stolen – and police have not recovered them.
The theft occurred the evening of May 29 when the officer, who is a sergeant with the county Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention, had his vehicle broken into, a source close to the investigation told KIRO 7.
The theft of the duty weapon hasn’t been discussed publicly, only in a confidential security bulletin distributed to police.
“Staff should continue to ensure that they properly identify and recognize all personnel before allowing access to each of our DAJD facilities,” the bulletin reads. “Please immediately report any suspicious activity or concerns.”
