Number of flu deaths in state rise to 8

EVERETT, Wash. — Another death from the flu has been confirmed in Snohomish County where dozens have already been hospitalized.

The death brings the total in the state to eight.  Four of those were in Snohomish County. The other four deaths were in Spokane, King and Pierce counties.

Health officials said number of hospitalizations continues to rise as the flu spreads quickly in Washington and across the nation.

Doctors said it’s not too late to get a flu shot.

The Snohomish Health District is giving free flu shots to low income and uninsured adults and has set up two free clinics.

The first one is Friday at Everett Station from 10 a.m. to noon.

The next one is Saturday, Jan. 26 at Comcast Arena.

The health district said the flu shot is a good match for the strain that's causing the most problems.

Free flu shots are also available in King County and Tacoma.
