Suspected DUI driver slams into Everett salon

EVERETT, Wash. — The owner of an Everett hair salon is cleaning up after police say a driver who may have been under the influence drove through the front of his store Wednesday night.

The owner said it happened just before 11:30 p.m.

Everett police say a 38-year-old woman was driving on Evergreen Way when she hit a vehicle, lost control, went over a median, through some hedges and slammed into Anne’s Hair Salon.

The storefront is now boarded up.

“It’s unbelievable. You can see all the bushes right there. I don't know how fast they were going,” said owner Erik Tang.

Tang says Everett police woke him up 12:30 a.m. Thursday to tell him that the business he recently bought was hit by a car.

Tang says nearly all his front windows were smashed and debris was thrown everywhere inside.

The store was boarded up and the debris removed.

Mike Wilson, who works next door, says speeding is common on SR 526, Evergreen Way and Casino Road.

He said he was shocked at the damage, but not surprised by the crash.

“I see a lot of stuff out here. There's some crazy stuff out here,” said Wilson.

Much of the store was not affected, so Tang hopes he can reopen relatively soon.

Tang said he was amazed nobody was killed.

“It’s horrible. You know, you shouldn't be driving when you are drunk like that,” said Tang.

Everett police say the woman was arrested and taken to Providence Hospital for evaluation.
