Five days after a 63-year-old U.S. Postal Service mail carrier from Snohomish disappeared, Snohomish Police will hand the investigation over to the Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit.
Henry Groeneveld was last seen around 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, in the 400 block of Union Avenue. He was wearing a red knit cap, a brown pullover and navy pants. He told family members he was "going to the water."
Hundreds of people showed up at a vigil held for the beloved mail carrier Friday evening at Dutch Hill Elementary.
Groeneveld's daughter, Liz Dickson, feels her father may have been involved in an accident.

"I think something really bad happened to him, he's out there and we need to find him," she said.
Snohomish investigators say they've exhausted all initial leads. They searched the areas around the Snohomish and Pilchuck rivers, including the Avenue D Bridge, railroad trestles, and along First Street.
They also searched near the aquatic center and library.
The Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue helicopter flew along the rivers and searched by air, while the Marine Unit deployed boats to search by water.
Search and Rescue dogs also searched the area. Police have checked surveillance camera footage of area businesses from around the time Groeneveld left his home.
Groeneveld is 5 feet 7 inches, 150 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes. Community members are posting updates to a Facebook page that has been created for the search.
