Mill Creek cyclist hoping evidence will lead to hit-and-run driver

MILL CREEK, Wash. — A Mill Creek cyclist who was badly injured by a hit-and-run driver hopes critical evidence will lead to the driver who fled.

Robert Paine was biking in South Everett when he crossed a driveway to a Shell station.

He told KIRO 7 he made eye contact with a driver who was stopped, preparing to turn onto 128th Street, but the driver accelerated and hit him, sending him flying into a busy lane of traffic.

“He accelerated faster than you would ever want to leave a driveway to begin with. He got to me very quickly,” said Paine.

The driver never stopped.

Paine was left with torn muscles and ligaments in his feet, a damaged knee joint and scrapes on his back.

Paine got two key pieces of evidence. One was the license plate number and description of the car.

He says it was a 2011 Volvo S-240 sedan with Illinois plate Z825114.

The other piece of evidence is the front fog-light bumper, which was sheared off by impact.

Surveillance video showing the impact will be collected by deputies.

If you see the car, call police.
