Seattle-Everett passenger train services canceled

The North Line Sounder trains for Sunday’s Seahawks game and Christmas Eve have been canceled due to the additional risk of mudslides, said a spokesperson with Sound Transit.

Kimberly Reason of Sound Transit told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Deborah Horne that about 1,500 people use the train for games. The Seattle Seahawks are against the San Francisco 49ers.

Holiday service was previously scheduled for Christmas Eve, but it is also canceled.

If no other slide activity occurs, North Line Sounder service is expected to resume on Wednesday.

South Line Sounder and Link trains will operate to the Seahawks game Sunday.

Sounder service from Lakewood to Seattle is not affected. Link light rail trains will also run two-car trains to accommodate event crowds on Sunday.

Inbound Sounder trains from the south will depart Lakewood at 1:50 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The 1:50 p.m. train will operate to South Tacoma, Tacoma and Puyallup stations only before proceeding to King Street Station. The 2:30 p.m. Lakewood train will stop at all south stations.  A third south line train will depart Sumner Station at 2:37 p.m. and stop in Auburn, Kent and Tukwila before arriving in Seattle.
