New video offered as proof that viral Space Needle photos were real

SEATTLE — Reddit user ScrawledInBlack claimed Wednesday to have video proof that photos of an illegal climb on the Space Needle were real.

The photos, along with images of a prohibited climb at CenturyLink Field, went viral last week after the Seattle Seahawks retweeted one of them.

Some questioned the veracity of the photos, questioning if they were created using photo editing software.

ScrawledInBlack posted a link to the new video on the Seattle Subreddit page. The video, titled "Space Needle Excerpts," begins with KIRO 7 Eyewitness News footage about the leaked photos, along with the question, "Did it really happen?"

The video shows a man in a backpack climbing the Space Needle and walking along the top of it. The man’s face is blurred out.

“We literally walked up and started climbing,” the unidentified climber claimed on Reddit, using the name shuttersubversive. “Took the stairs most of the way. Nobody who worked for the place knew we were there.”
