New bill would put Washington-made guns and ammo above federal law

OLYMPIA, Wash. — All firearms, ammunition and accessories made in Washington would not be subject to federal law under legislation introduced Monday in the Washington State House of Representatives.

House Bill 1371 was sponsored by Reps. Taylor, Overstreet, Shea, Short, Pike, Scott, Schmick, Crouse, Condotta and Kristiansen. It is titled the Washington State Firearms Freedom Act of 2013.

Seattlepi.com reports that the legislation is part of a nationwide effort, fueled by the National Rifle Association, to block federal gun enforcement.
