Mystery illness breaks out at Pacific school

PACIFIC, Wash. — A mystery illness has broken out at a school in Pacific where children are sick with flu-like symptoms, the King County Health Department said.

Alpac Elementary principal Diane Collier said school nurses are working with the health department to get more information about the illness.

The symptoms are headache, cough and fever.

About a quarter of the student body was out sick Tuesday and Wednesday.

School maintenance workers are sanitizing the school by wiping down door knobs and other high contact areas.
