Auburn, Wash. - Brian Love, 56, died July 5 in downtown Auburn, a place he loved. He was well-known in the community for acting as an emcee for events.

As a cab driver, he was also known for making sure people who drank too much got home safely, even if they couldn't afford to pay.

This town lost a good man. He was very loved," said his fiancee, Sheryl Combs. "There will never be another Brian Love."

A memorial was held for Love at Auburn Adventist Academy Church.

Floyd Gonzales, 29, is charged with vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless endangerment. He will be arraigned July 22. Prosecutors said he ran a red light, slammed into the taxi and tried to flee.

Eight months earlier, Gonzales was released from prison, where he served time for assault and kidnapping.
