Motorhome crashes into Federal Way home during test drive

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A motorhome crashed into a house Friday afternoon during a test drive, according to South King Fire & Rescue.

The incident happened at a home in the 500 block of Marine Hills.

According to South King Fire & Rescue, the vehicle had mechanical failure which caused the test driver to lose control and crash into the home.

Officials said the 34-year-old driver had to disentangle himself from the crash and he wandered in the neighborhood looking for help.

The driver suffered a head laceration and was taken to a local hospital to be treated and evaluated. His condition is unknown at this time.

No one was inside the home during the time of the crash and there were no witnesses.

The crash severed the natural gas meter at the house which released high pressure gas into the neighborhood, according to South King Fire & Rescue. This prompted an evacuation until Puget Sound Energy could secure the leaking pipe.

Crews at the scene were there for nearly six hours and their technical rescue team was called in to assist a commercial tow truck to extricate the vehicle.

The Federal Way Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
