Motorcycle officer thrown from bike during crash

EVERETT, Wash. — A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle deputy was thrown off his bike during a crash with a car in Everett Thursday morning.

The crash occurred on Evergreen Way near 112th Street Southwest at 10:30 a.m.

A car was heading southbound when it crossed all lanes of traffic and struck the officer.

A witness told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that the officer was knocked off his motorcycle before it was dragged about 50 feet.

Video from Chopper 7 showed a  car on the sidewalk with hood and fender damage and the police motorcycle overturned in a grassy area between the road and a strip mall.  The seat of the motorcycle appeared to have been ripped off the bike.

The Sheriff’s Office said the deputy and the driver of the car both have non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
