THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Early this morning a Thurston County mother was arrested in the homicide of her two-year-old daughter.
Tuesday morning 911 was called to a home in the 7700 block of 3rd Ave. SE in the Tanglewild neighborhood near Lacey. A toddler in the home was unresponsive and someone in the home was performing CPR. The child was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Later that day, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office told KIRO 7 that the girl’s death was being investigated as suspicious.
On Wednesday the Thurston County Coroner's Office ruled the death a homicide by extensive blunt force trauma. The child had been injured several days prior to her death.
The mother, Monique Hachtel, has been booked into Thurston County Jail for second degree murder.
