Men hospitalized after Olympia stabbing fight

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Police said a man stabbed another man who was on a bicycle in Sylvester Park in Olympia Tuesday.

The Washington State Patrol said 36-year-old Daniel E. Homan stabbed 28-year-old Ralph R. Turpin in the back as Turpin rode a bike through the park.

Investigators said that during the altercation, Homan was stabbed in the stomach.

Detectives said the two men knew each other and are both transients who live in the area in and around Sylvester Park.

State Patrol Sgt. Jason Hicks said a motive for the stabbing is not known, but detectives have many witnesses to interview in the case.

Turpin remains at Saint Peter's hospital in stable condition.  Hicks said Homan is in critical condition.
